Use a registered plumber

In South Africa, plumbing work should meet SANS 10252-1 for water supply and drainage, and geyser installations must follow SANS 10254. Ask whether the plumber is registered with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) and will issue a Certificate of Compliance where the work needs one. Insurers usually ask for that certificate after a geyser replacement, and some municipalities, such as the City of Cape Town, require a plumbing certificate when a property is sold.
